Matrimonio Italiano!

Saturday 28th May, 2022

Welcome! Benvenuto!

It's been a long time coming....

Welcome to our wedding website - we really appreciate you flying out to beautiful Italy, and we cannot wait to celebrate with you in May!

Here you'll find all of the key information for all things relating to the Clark-Jenkin wedding, as well as an easy way to contact us if you have any questions. More details, such as menu, timetable and carriages timings, will follow closer to the time as we continue to finalise our plans!

I hope you are prepared to do a lot of eating, drinking, dancing, and – well to be honest, lots more eating.

Lots of love,

About Natalie
TJ: If you’ve not met Natalie before, then I feel sorry for you. If you’ve been missing out, allow me to briefly inform you about this amazing woman.

When she’s not establishing a kick ass Malaysian food side hustle – those of you lucky enough to have tasted it will know how good it is – you can find her cradling a baby (mostly her godson, not always), cuddling the nearest puppy (often Ernie, again not always), or insisting on another Harry Potter marathon.

If you’re ever planning to move home, Natalie's extensive Rightmove experience probably means she’ll have a list of recommendations for you in minutes. Just don’t expect to see her up and about before 8am.

About Thomas
NC: Of course everyone reading this should have an idea of who Tom is, but if you haven't had the pleasure of truly getting to know him, let me give you a few notes.

Tom is a massive Spurs fan for his sins, and is verging on being clinically obsessed with our dog Ernie. Before becoming his wife, Tom has kindly bestowed upon me the title of 'golf widow', though he spends more time looking for balls rather than actually hitting them.

He loves widening his culinary horizons as my guinea pig in the kitchen, and though he used to be quite the 'rager', Tom enjoys nothing more than cracking open a bottle of red and watching Lord of the Rings for the millionth time.
About Natalie and Thomas
Our story began where all good love stories do – at The Tab. An unexpected kiss, the worst cheesy chips and a failed terror incident at London City Airport (yes, really) brought the two of us together in a happy twist of fate.

Though we tried our best not to, we both fell for each other pretty hard – who knew a cold dingy office above a Leylands on a noisy crossroads in Shoreditch would be the perfect place for our relationship to thrive?

Our first romantic getaway was to Lake Como, a place so magical it was easy to fall in love with each other and Italy. We then made it our tradition to visit our favourite country ever year – a tradition we've managed to uphold surprisingly well during a global pandemic.

It was on one of these very visits in September 2020 that Tom popped the question in a beautiful olive grove overlooking the picturesque Puglian countryside. After this, it was a no-brainer for us to want to get married in our favourite place, and we can't wait to enjoy this experience with all of you.

Friday Night

Welcome Aperitivo

On Friday 27th May, we will be kicking off the Italian weekend in style, by hosting 'aperitivo' in the centre of Padua.

'Aperitivo' is the cultural ritual of having a few drinks and bites before dinner. Often enjoyed on a sun-kissed square, we thought this would be the perfect opportunity to get everyone together before the big day.

Details to follow closer to the time, but expect to meet from around 5pm onwards!

Where to stay

We suggest staying in the town of Padua (or Padova in Italian), a beautiful ancient city off the well-beaten tourist track of Venice and Verona.

The main part of town is a mere 20 minute stroll from top to bottom, and in between are plenty of hotels and Airbnbs to stay in. We've put together a little spreadsheet of some suggestions, as well as a few below and through the guest portal of this website.

As a reminder, we will be organising carriages to and from the ceremony from Padua (details to follow), so it may be easier to stay in town for the big day!

We also have a limited number of self-catered rooms at the venue itself, which would mean for a very easy journey to bed. The availability is currently from Friday to Sunday, so if that suits your timings, please let us know!

Travel & Transport to Padova

It's pretty easy to travel from Venice or Verona to Padova - the journey is roughly 45 minutes from Venice and 1 hour 10 from Verona.

One thing to look out for: Italy's highways are often toll roads, and you'll see booths and big blue and yellow signs saying 'TELEPASS' before you join the road and after you hop off. You can definitely put into your navigation app to 'avoid tolls', but if you do use them, they are fairly cheap.

When using the toll, do not go into the 'TELEPASS' lane - instead, use the cash/card toll. When you join the highway, you'll get a ticket, and when you leave, you put your ticket in the machine and pay the toll with cash or card.

It may be self-explanatory, but we had no idea and the car rental companies do not pre-warn you. Hope this is helpful!

From Venice:

To get to the Venice Mestre train station, there are two main options.

First, the quickest but most expensive route is taking a cab. The taxis aren't charged using a flat rate, instead, they use a time-based system, so the journey to Mestre will cost around 30€.

The second (and we think better) option is to take the ATVO Express Bus which costs €8 one-way and takes around 17 minutes to reach Mestre.

You could also get the ACTV City Bus which also costs €8 one-way, but takes approximately 30 minutes.

When at Venice Mestre, there are regular trains to Padova, which take approximately 15 minutes and should cost no more than €5 (don't pay anymore than that - that train is also the longer one).

From Verona:

The easiest way to get from the airport to Verona Porta Nuova station is the Verona Airlink (Bus 199), which takes 15 minutes and costs €6.

There are then semi-regular trains that run to Padova – on average the journey will be about an hour and cost about €7-8.
The closest airports to Padova are Venice or Verona.
On the day of the wedding, we will arrange coaches from Padova to the venue on the day of the wedding, as well as to take people back after the partying ends.

Location of pick up and drop off is TBC - we'll let you know the final arrangements closer to the day!

Gifts...

We are honestly incredibly grateful that you are coming out to Italy to share the best day of our lives with us. However, if you did want to very kindly leave us a gift, we would hugely appreciate any contribution to our honeymoon that we plan to take later in the year.

Thank you again!
